A selection of images from a new body of work in progress, The Creeping Unknown borrows from the special effects and props in four seminal horror/science fiction films produced in the UK in the 1950s and 1960s: The Quatermass Experiment, Quatermass and the Pit, The Day the Earth Caught Fire, X The Unknown. Each film uses inspired and influential low budget trickery to create spectacular scenes and hideous body horror - anxiety, paranoia, terror and gloop seep from the screen. The project builds upon my previous projects involving phoney contraptions and an ongoing interest the weird and uncanny.
